With a shared passion for training, AFS was established in 2026 by Marc Choromanski (The Ecology Studio) and  Mike Jones (Tou-Roa Ecology).

AFS is proud to be Aotearoa’s first specialist provider of advanced ecology field skills training.

Our kaupapa is simple: to help grow the skills and confidence of the people working to care for our natural spaces. We work alongside environmental professionals, iwi, community groups, and local government, sharing practical, hands-on training that supports real-world biodiversity management. At our core, we believe that when people are empowered with the right skills, our whenua, wai, and wildlife thrive — and so do the communities who look after them.
